平成２１年８月の豪雨災害で私の鍛刀場は浸水し泥まみれになりました。
心が折れそうになる日々。しかし負ける訳にはいきません。自分を奮い立たせ、３ヵ月後、やっと鍛刀場に再び火を入れることができました。
水害を経験し、人の痛みや温かさが身にしみて分かる人間に成長できたことで、今まで以上に様々な感情を作品に表現できたのではないかと感じます。そして、復興後に完成させた一振には、「一陽来復」と銘を入れました。
冬が終わり、春が来る。辛い事の後には、必ず良い事がやって来る。
そして、この年、新作名刀展において最高賞を受賞しました。

My workshop was flooded in the summer of 2009. For almost 3 months, I had to be apart from swordmaking because I had to clean up the muddy workshop.
But I went though difficulties and finally I got the most honorable prize “NBTHK chairman prize (the first place) at the competition of next year.

I had engraved the four-character compounds, “一陽来復 (Ichi-yoh Raifuku) at Nakago . It means that after a long cold winter, warm and happy spring comes and also means that happiness will certainly come after there was misfortune.
